We are the connection to everything happening in the state’s largest business center, cultural district, and fastest-growing neighborhoods. We are the center of it all. We also oversee the Downtown Management Authority (DMA), Baltimore’s oldest and largest business improvement district (BID). DPOB's programs – including uniformed operations teams of Downtown Baltimore Guides, Clean Sweep Ambassadors, and Park Stewards – make the 106-block downtown district more attractive, vibrant, and hospitable. We’re seeking a strategic and creative Director of Digital Marketing & Communications to lead the development and execution of brand-driven content across all channels and platforms. This role is central to shaping and maintaining the organization’s voice and visual identity through compelling, consistent storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing & Communications, the Director will collaborate closely with teams across Operations, Business Development, and Economic Development to ensure that our messaging is aligned, impactful, and expands our reach across key audiences. We’ll need you to The Director of Digital Marketing & Communications is responsible for creating & implementing strategic marketing tactics, with a digital focus, to increase visibility and awareness of Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, Downtown Management Authority, and the Downtown Baltimore neighborhood as a destination, including attractions, retailers, restaurants, events, and living Downtown. Oversee all email marketing functions, including design, production, list management, and analytics. Implement external storytelling through the creation of robust, brand-forward digital marketing campaigns across all channels. Including a focus on but not limited to digital marketing, email marketing, webinars, podcasting, and new market development. Build out a data-first approach, creating reporting infrastructure for cross-platform analytic measurement. Implement strategies for project management and organization in the areas of brand strategy. Work across teams to assist Vice President with marketing and promotional initiatives that drive brand growth and engagement among key stakeholders. Design, produce, and edit email marketing and special projects to tell the brand story and successes of DPOB and DMA. Manage all analytics across digital platforms, including email, web, social media, kiosks, Eventbrite, YouTube, and digital ad campaigns. Help create a long-term strategy for growing a community of advocates for our brand. Coordinate special projects as deemed appropriate by the VP of Marketing & Communications. Implement marketing for Downtown Partnership events and promotions. Research market trends and perform market analysis. Participate in companywide events and programming including Annual Meeting, State of Downtown Breakfast, Charles Street Promenade, and Real Estate Reception. Draft compelling, multi-channel content that amplifies DPOB’s mission and impact. Partner with stakeholders to craft narratives that highlight programmatic outcomes and community stories. Produce key reports as assigned. Is This You? Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or related field (master’s preferred). 7–10+ years of progressive experience in digital marketing, communications, and brand strategy. Proven experience leading high-performing marketing or communications teams. Strong track record in managing multi-channel campaigns (email, web, SEO, social, digital advertising). Experience working with analytical tools (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot, Salesforce, Adobe Analytics). Other Requirements Technical Skills Deep understanding of digital platforms and marketing automation tools. Proficiency in content management systems and (e.g., WordPress), CRM platforms, and email marketing software. To include: WordPress CRM platforms Google Analytics Canva MailChimp Eventbrite Adobe Suite Salesforce SmugMug SharePoint Google Drive Dropbox Proficiency in Social Media – Meta, LinkedIn, X, Hootsuite, Linktree, Zoom, Teams, Google Meet Strong grasp of SEO/SEM, paid media, UX/UI best practices, and digital advertising strategy. Data-driven mindset with ability to translate metrics into actionable insights. Familiarity with graphic design and video editing software (a plus). Demonstrated ability to develop and execute integrated digital marketing strategies aligned with organizational goals. Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize competing demands. Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities. Effective budget management and vendor oversight experience. Position Type/Expected Work Hours Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with shifting priorities and multiple projects May involve high-pressure situations and the need for timely decision-making Occasional work outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, to support events, campaigns, or urgent communications Supports both indoor and outdoor programs and events; flexibility in adapting to different environments is required This full-time position offers a compensation range of $80,000 to $92,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
