Position Summary*Job Description: *
York College invites applications for a part-time adjunct instructor appointment to teach SOC 100 Introduction to Sociology for the Fall 2025 semester. The instructor will be responsible for preparing and delivering course content, assessing student learning, and providing academic support in alignment with departmental and institutional standards. The course introduces students to key sociological concepts, theories, and methods, with an emphasis on understanding social structures, culture, inequality, and contemporary social issues.

*Outcome: *
Hiring one or two qualified part-time adjunct instructors to teach SOC 100
Essential Functions* Teach one or more sections of SOC 100, following the approved course outline
* Prepare lectures, assignments, and assessments
* Utilize the Canvas learning management system to share materials and communicate with students
* Evaluate student work fairly and promptly, providing constructive feedback
* Maintain timely records of attendance, grades, and student progress
* Hold office hours to support student learning
* Submit final grades and required reports according to academic calendar deadlines
* Participate in SOC 100 faculty development workshops
* Complete required training modules (i.e., Title IX, Security Awareness) as mandated by the institution
* Adhere to institutional policies, procedures, and academic standards
* Uphold FERPA regulations and ensure the confidentiality of student information
Experience and Education RequiredQualified applicants should hold a Master's or Doctoral degree in Sociology or other related field.
Required Skills and Qualifications* Prior high school and/or college-level teaching experience
* Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
* Familiarity with instructional technology and online learning platforms
* Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in teaching and student engagement
